Best jazz musician to make us proud in the near future
David Young
Bred in Evanston, David Young has been a firecracker waiting to explode for several years. Three years ago he was invited to join the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra by a fella named Wynton Marsalis, but decided to finish school at Northwestern instead. His first album, last year's "Appassionata," earned high praise from music critics all over the city and respect from jazz musicians like Roy Hargrove and Marcus Roberts. Best of all, he's a nice guy, and showing it as president of the non-profit jazz education group Music for Little Ones. Check him out live while you can still afford the tickets.
