Okay, so the “house” might have been sledgehammered into the ground back in the early eighties, but the property sold for real cheap and a new house was constructed on the lot. Back when Mr. Gacy surfaced as one of the most notorious serial killers in American history, traffic on Cumberland Avenue on the way to Summerdale crammed for miles with spectators trying to get a peek at the house of horrors. Now, the plot of land looks abandoned, overgrown with weeds, the windows of the new building impossibly dark. Gacy, one of the most famous Chicagoans from the latter half of the twentieth century, left his fatty prints on the neighborhood for sure—but to most folks it’s just too creepy to even do a drive-by.
