Although this could work for The Sox northern neighbors as well, this season—regardless of any outcome minus a World Series appearance—might well go down as Chicago`s most tragic baseball season since a man named Bartman realized a foul ball was headed his way. First there was the good: best first-half record in baseball ever, ahead by fifteen games at the beginning of August. Then came the tragic: sub-.500 ball in the second half, and two series with the Cleveland Indians that actually counted, and the threat of not even sneaking into the playoffs. It`s the type of drama that David Kelly would have trouble inventing, and a tragedy worthy of the Greek masters themselves.
