Best new wine bar

Fixture

If this storefront conversion of the old Burgundy Inn was open when Alan Richman wrote “The 20 Hamburgers You Must Eat Before You Die” for GQ, Fixture’s buffalo sliders with caramelized onions, blue cheese, black pepper and truffle mayonnaise would have made the list. The wine flights are all named after the actors who played James Bond and while Sean Connery is everyone`s favorite, the drinker in the mood for grape serendipity should opt for the George Lazenby, Timothy Dalton and Daniel Craig which gives you a tour of cellarmaster Michael Willison`s smart nuanced palate. As the menu says, “certainly not everybody’s favorites, these two short-lived Bonds and the new kid, Craig, are the oddball long-shots. 50-1 to win. 500-1 on a perfecta,” but make no mistake, this trio of fruity Gruner Veltliner, plummy Cabernet Shiraz and an Austrian Zweigelt is the sure bet to wash down Chef Sarah Nelson’s piece of red-meat heaven.
